“Persons whose tests are positive will be moved into a state quarantine facility until they recover. All others will be allowed to go home and self-quarantine for a further period of 14 days from the date of disembarkation,” said Holness. At a press conference yesterday, Prime Minister Andrew Holness revealed that as early as April 21, the government has written to the cruise line to explore the possibilities of bringing the 1044 Jamaicans home. The prime minister also said in addition to the RCCL workers, there are nearly 900 other cruise workers who the Government is working to bring home. After being stuck at sea for almost two months, more than 1,000 Jamaicans who are on board Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s (RCCL) Anthem of the Seas are to dock at the Falmouth Cruise Ship Pier today. The prime minister explained that the 48 to 72-hour timeframe is to allow for test results to be made available. The Ministry of Health and Wellness is to create a sterile zone around the port to conduct testing. After testing, persons will be transferred to the Bahai Principe hotel in St Ann, where 400 additional rooms have been secured. He said persons who are allowed to quarantine at home will need to consent to have their locations geo-fenced, using smart technology through the JamCovid19 app, and to do a video check multiple times per day while in quarantine. Holness said the Cabinet on Monday approved specific protocols related to the re-entry of the Adventure of the Seas, which will repatriate the largest number of Jamaicans at any one time. He said the Port Authority of Jamaica will manage the exercise, which will see groups of 200 persons disembarking the ship every 48 to 72 hours. In addition to this, over 9,000 Jamaicans from counties around the world have applied to return home under the controlled re-entry program. The government admitted that it does not have the resources and capacity to put all returning residents in a state facility, and thus, home quarantine was the best compromise.

While operators are thinking in terms of acquiring quality players, players are focusing on the quantity of their bet returns.According to Gambling.net, “Whether the bonus money can help you overcome a small house edge at the blackjack tables, or allow you to show a profit against tough competition in the poker room, getting a top gambling bonus is often the difference between winning and losing in online gambling!” Whenever a player gains something, even if occasionally, they should return. The Competition and Markets Authority’s (CMA) recent endeavour on countering the labrynth of bonus terms is a campaign against operator evasiveness that purposely choose not to the abide by regulations and/or consumer law. The operators who pride their business on longevity and high player loyalty avoid these marketing ploys as it affects all levels of their online operations and ultimately leads to their demise. Industry-leading gaming sites make sure to substantiate bonusing campaigns with clear terms and conditions, but accountability and consent also falls on the player to inform themselves about what they are agreeing to participate in by reading the requirements and limitations. With the digitalisation of sports betting, bonusing accompanied with gamification is shaping to be one of the defining benefits to the multi-channel experience and a point of differentiation among operators.Bonusing in its current context can provide considerable benefits to players, especially as platform technology enables adjusted offers according to playing styles and player journeys to optimise the online gaming experience. The Gambling Commission’s emphasis on ensuring licensees act accordingly with bonusing terms also extends to technology providers working in the same sphere. Operators looking to be aligned with the Gambling Commission’s priorities should turn to platforms that are supported by the organisation, as is Comtrade Gaming’s iCore – The Enterprise Gaming Platform. Not all platforms are created equally and this can create a significant effect on bonus campaigns and the operator’s ability to optimise their business. However, the ACCC who acted as the original acting regulatory supervisory body for the merger, stated that it has a litany of concerns regarding the impact of the deal on market competition and consumer pricing.Putting forward the court order ACCC Chairman Rod Sims states that ‘the ACT made three review errors’.Sims detailed that the ACT had taken an unfair position reviewing Tabcorp-Tatts, by stating that its review body had to be ‘satisfied of a substantial lessening of competition’ in order to object to the merger. The ACCC Chairman states that the ACT had been ‘inconsistent’ in its review approach, and should have taken into account wider stakeholder concerns of potential impacts caused by ‘any lessening’ of competition should the combination be developed. The Commission stated that the review placed too high an emphasis on the benefits of corporate synergies and cost savings, which were significantly favourableto ‘deal leader’ Tabcorp Holdings.Furthermore, the ACCC states that at no point had the Tribunal forecasted the potential future impacts to Australian sports betting, lottery and gambling markets/services caused by the merger of Tabcorp-Tatts, missing a fundamental process in its review.“We believe we had no option but to seek a review of these three, what we say, are reviewable errors, particularly because they set such important precedents for the decisions we have to make into the future,” Sims statedTabcorp governance has reacted to the court filing, issuing a short corporate statement detailing that it was aware of ACCC’s actions. At present, the company states that it will ‘provide further information as appropriate”The merger of Tabcorp-Tatts has faced an arduous nine-month regulatory compliance process, In which a number of market competitors have highlighted concerns regarding the combination.Following a rough opening to its full-year 2016/17 performance in which Tabcorp has been fined AUS $45 million by financial watchdog AUSTRAC for multiple compliance failures. For example, in Penalty Kick, there are a few betting options. One option is for a player to bet on the taker’s victory or the goalkeeper saving the ball. Other options are for a player to make bets on the positioning of the ball which could be upper, middle or lower levels, whereas the biggest wins can be achieved by predicting a rebound off the post or the exact ‘cell’ (1-24) for the penalty. SBC: How do you plan to develop the game moving into 2018 and approaching the Russia World Cup?PK: We are planning to diversify our sports betting portfolio, making football and the Russia World Cup the main theme, as well as promote sales of our DAREBS platform to more markets to enable more operators across the globe provide their punters with options to make bets on the Russia 2018 World Cup in a real time mode. Obviously the shops have come under threat, as all retail LBO’s have, from the wider online sportsbooks, and in particular from the development of the mobile apps. “As a result business has slowed, and our task is to provide as many reasons as possible for our customers to continue to bet with us, and in particular to ensure that we continue to provide a first class customer experience. “We believe our flexibility as an independent allows us to provide a bespoke service to our customers.” “There are no especial issues posed by the existence of such a widespread online industry. The local regulator operates separate regimes for online and terrestrial businesses, and we have a very good relationship with the Isle of Man Gambling Commission,” added Peett. One such example of the flexibility offered by Joe Jennings is the introduction of WhatsApp betting, which the firm stresses is “the easiest and quickest way to get your bets on”.Addressing the appeal this holds to customers, in addition to how it affords the firm a competitive edge, Peett stated: “WhatsApp was an innovation for our telebet operation and has proven to be very popular amongst both old and new customers. “Similar to our shop operation we aim for our telebet business to provide a bespoke service to our customers on an individual basis, giving each what is important to them, what appears to be important to all of our telebet customers is to be treated as an individual.”As previously addressed though, Joe Jennings’ island operations aren’t just restricted to the Isle of Man, and Peett moved on to discussing possible expansions within this area: “We have 4 shops in Jersey all in the capital of St Helier, similar to the Isle of Man shops, Joe Jennings have had a presence on the Island for some 20 years, and the business has proven to be very successful in that time. We don’t currently have any other target locations, although we are always open to offers or interesting ideas.”Across all areas of a bookmakers operations the issue of social responsibility has never played a more integral role, with its importance emphasised like never before: “Joe Jennings Bookmakers takes socially responsible gambling seriously. There is a responsibility on Joe Jennings as a provider of gambling services to be aware of the social consequences of gambling,” said Peett. “We want all of our customers to gamble responsibly and within their means and to enjoy the entertainment experience across all of our products. Therefore we will endeavour to put in place appropriate measures to protect customers and promote a responsible gambling culture.”
